Fashion sustainability event at Winfield House

A conversation on the fashion industry's commitment to sustainability

In April 2024, Zara’s Kitchen had the pleasure of catering for an exceptional and prestigious event, co-hosted by US Ambassador to the UK Jane D. Hartley and Gabriela Hearst Ltd. This included a drink and canapé reception and a panel discussion on the fashion industry’s role in environmental stewardship – all situated in the stunning environment of Winfield House (home to Mrs Hartley). Other influential figures in attendance included Princess Eugenie, Princess Nina of Greece and Denmark and the designer Gabriela Hearst herself – who stands as one of the foremost figures in fashion sustainability.

The Food & Drink

The guests enjoyed a variety of vegan canapes with a selection of sparkling wine and home-made mocktails. The plant-based menu was specifically requested by Hearst to fall in line with the event’s focus on sustainability. Guests mingled in the spectacular drawing room of the house, enjoying the sunset from the magnificent garden overlooking Regent’s Park on a very fine spring evening indeed.

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a selection of Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine and home-made lime, ginger and mint sparkling mocktails; served with a garnish of natural dried fruits. Following the panel discussion, the sumptuous array of vegan canapes were served throughout the evening, with highlights including roast celeriac fondant with burnt celeriac skin purée and fennel tops and aubergine & red pepper poppadoms with curry leaf. A firm favourite of the night was the sweetcorn purée and charred sweetcorn on linseed crackers, which we can safely say got the Royal stamp of approval!

It was a privilege being requested to cater in such a historic location to such an influential crowd. The feedback was wonderful, and we couldn’t have been more pleased.

Thank you for an absolutely unforgettable night. This was one of the best nights of my life and exceeded expectations
